After producing a variety projects, he was offered a position as the Director of Scouting with one of the most respected direct scouting companies in the acting industry. With this position Erik had the opportunity to facilitate hundreds of open calls throughout the country, and meet thousands of aspiring actors and parents. During his 5 years with the company, Erik helped assist in the success of hundreds of actors. This experience also led him to realize that there was a major void in the early stages of an actor's career. He saw many actors and their parents come up short simply because of a lack of the right tools and knowledge. In 2009 he came up with a solution to fill this void, The Acting Camp. The concept was to give young actors and parents a solid stepping-stone to steer their career in the right direction. Utilizing his array of influential players in the acting business, Erik created The Acting Camp with the hopes of educating, inspiring and helping guide young actors and their parents to a successful career!

He’s possibly best known for his students on Disney Channel; Aedin Mincks on Jessie, Kenton Duty and Skyler Keesee on Shake It Up, Chris Galya and JJ Totah on Jessie, Alex Jones and Aubrey Miller on Kickin It, Noah Centineo on Aubrey Miller on Austin and Allie, Nick Robinson on Melissa and Joey, amongst many others.

Like many of his students, John was a stage actor who had to learn how to adjust his performance for television and film.  In an attempt to teach a new generation of actors, John has created a simple math to on camera performance.  He also teaches courses on How to Make Funny, which helps actors understand how to find the laughs in situation comedies as well as his highly effective Active Listening Program that challenges actors to remain dynamically present in every moment.

What most people don’t know about John is that his roots are in drama, on stage as well as television and film.  He believes that actors should have an extraordinary range that constantly challenges people to define them, thereby limiting their opportunities.  He is always looking for the next amazing young artist, who displays a willingness to risk all in their work on their journey to an inspired career.
